31th May 2013 – from Roy Lyon – Whooper swan along with 2 little egret, 45 tundra ringed plover and a dunlin, bar-tailed godwit and one avocet out on the sands.

22nd May 2013 – Little grebe and coot on pond, calling cuckoo.

19th May 2013 – no wind! – 1st common sandpiper of the year, 12 bar-tailed godwit near lighthouses, barn owl over farmland and a mixed flock of around 50 house martin & swallow on lines over rape crop. Common seal & 3 roe deer seen.

16th May 2013 – light E wind & cool – 1st curlew sandpiper of the year, in full summer plumage and 142 ringed plover seen on main stray, little grebe on car park pond and 2 water vole, good numbers of hirundines around strays.

12th May 2013 – Moderate to strong W wind & cool – 4 avocet at Saltend, 127 grey plover, full summer plumage bar-tailed godwit & knot and 200+ dunlin on main stray, swallow, first house martin & swift of the year over church

11th May 2013 – Moderate to strong SW wind & cool – Large peregrine over farmland, little egret over strays, 7 avocet, 200+ grey plover from hide, 2 whimbrel and 2 sand martin from lighthouses, 8 swallow in paddock. Weasel near car park.

6th May 2013 – Light to moderate SW wind & warm – Buzzard over farmland, marsh harrier & 12 arctic terns from lighthouses.

5th May 2013 – Light to moderate SW wind & warm – Tawny Pipit seen from 07:45 to 08:30 along bank from car park steps. Bird flew over several times with distinctive ‘sparrow like’ call. Brief footage captured before the bird was disturbed by dog walkers and flew off east along the bank. Also – little egret over strays.
