27th April 2014 – SimonB – garden warbler, 4 wheatear, 7 whimbrel, 5 yellow wagtail, 4 little egret & 10 housemartin. Paul M evening update: sedge warbler, 3 common whitethroat, 6+ blackcap, swallow, little egret, lesser whitethroat near Fort Paull
26th April 2014 – SimonB – grasshopper warbler, reed warbler, 6 wheatear, 3 whimbrel, greenshank, cuckoo, yellow wagtail & 7 little egret.
21st April 2014 – NE wind – grasshopper warbler reeling briefly in scrub near pond car park at 8:30am and again at 7:30pm, blackcap, chiff chaff, willow warbler, cuckoo and redpoll over near Fort Paull. From hide, 2 marsh harrier, comic tern, 2 little tern, merlin, swallow, bar-tailed godwit, 1 black-tailed godwit, knot, little egret and grey plover. 3 Roe deer in scrub near farm.
19th April 2014 – cool E wind – tawny owl calling, whitethroat singing 2 avocet, whimbrel, sedge warbler singing, yellow wagtail, common sandpiper, blackcap, chiff chaff, 2 peregrine, swallow, kestrel. Good numbers of bar-tailed godwit and grey plover from hide
18th April 2014 – cold NW wind – 2 mute swan, black-tailed godwit, avocet and whimbrel, 2 little egret, spotted redshank, yellow wagtail, cuckoo calling over farmland, willow warbler, chiff chaff, blackcap 16th April 2014 – black-tailed godwit and whimbrel. 15th April 2014 – swallow, greenshank, 2 avocet and snipe.
14th April 2014 – grasshopper warbler reeling across road from car park pond and a tawny owl heard from same area. wheatear, little egret.
12th April 2014 – Very cool SSW wind- 3 swallow at car park pond followed by 2 more at lighthouses, 2 marsh harrier one adult male and one younger bird 5 minutes later by lighthouses. Sparrowhawk, willow warbler, long-tailed tit, great spotted woodpecker in woods. 3 roe deer and a hare on farmland
5th April 2014 – CoolS & SE winds over last few days – 800+ grey plover, 27 sanderling from hide, 2 avocet, little egret, 30+ turnstone, 2 red-legged partridge, grey heron, buzzard, sparrowhawk, kestrel, small numbers of wigeon & teal still present. 20+ redwing in paddock and 2 chiffchaff and a blackcap singing in woods. Distant view of a hirundine, probably a swallow brought down by rain shower. Peacock and tortoiseshell butterflies (SB – bullfinch near Fort Paull)
